Hi, I'm
Jared!

I'm thrilled you're here.

I am a person who has struggled with chronic disorganization for as long as I can remember. Maybe you can relate! Maybe you're just situationally disorganized because of a big and/or stressful life event. Maybe you're already a pretty organized person and just need an outside eye. In any case, I would love to be of assistance.

Organization and decluttering or downsizing has made my life so much less stressful and more calming. I have a passion for creating systems and sorting things into those systems, and I would love to share that passion to help others. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, a brain-based condition that can contribute to chronic disorganization. I very much want to specialize in helping others with brain-based conditions, but I am still educating myself on these topics, so am less qualified than other professionals who may have certifications in this area.

How do I know if you're qualified to help me?

Well, I recommend starting with NAPO's guide on how to hire a professional organizer if you are just starting to look at finding an organizer.

It is much easier at the moment to tell you who I am not qualified to help. While I am working toward specializations in brain-based conditions, older populations, and hoarding disorder, I am not yet equipped to help these specific populations. If your space meets criteria for level three or above on the ICD's Clutter-Hoarding Scale, I do not yet have the knowledge and experience to be your organizer. I recommend visiting NAPO's Professional Directory to find a professional with more experience.

What can I expect if I want to hire you?

First, you'll want to book a free initial consult. The allotted time slots are 50 minutes, but it doesn't have to take that long. During that time, we'll discuss what project(s) you have in mind, what your goals and challenges are with the space, and I will need to see the space itself. These initial consults are all over Zoom, which is free and does not require you to make an account if you use it on your web browser. If you prefer to speak over the phone, we can do that, but some pictures or videos of the space(s) you want help with is necessary for me to determine if my services are appropriate and how much time it might take so we can determine what the price range for your project(s) might be.

From there, we can schedule time blocks to meet either in your space or over Zoom. First, we'll go through every item in the space, section by section. Everything will be sorted into "keep" or "not keep." I am NOT here to force you to throw all of your belongings away. I do not want you to get rid of something and regret it later. My goal is to help you keep only what makes you happy and your space functional.

After that, we organize. It's a very simple process, but it is not easy. If it was, everyone would be perfectly organized with no clutter- and very few people are! Chronic disorganization is extremely common, and I have struggled with it myself.

Where are you willing to travel?

I primarily live and work in Southern Maryland, but am willing to travel elsewhere. This will increase my rates in order to cover my travel expenses. If you are not in my local area and don't need me there in person, I do offer my services over Zoom.

You can sign up for a 50 minute time slot over Zoom to speak with me directly, fill out the contact form below, or email me at jared@declutterdemon.com

Is there anything I should know that might affect my decision to hire you?

I have two cats and their fur gets everywhere. If you or anyone who uses the space(s) I will be in has a cat allergy, I can do my best with a lint roller, but I would caution against using my in-person services.

Additionally, my vehicle has two political bumper stickers on it. I do not believe my politics or yours have a place in the organizing journey, but if having a car with political affiliations that may or may not be the same as yours at the property where your space(s) is(are) is a problem, you may prefer to utilize my services over Zoom.

Let me know what you're thinking!

Do you have questions that weren't answered? Maybe you want to know what I think but aren't ready for a full meeting. If you are ready for a meeting, but there are no available hours that work with your schedule, let me know when you are available, and I'll do my best to find a time that works for you.
